Central Coast AirFest 2025 Recap
The Central Coast AirFest returned to KSMX on October 18th and 19th, bringing together thousands of aviation enthusiasts for a weekend filled with flight, community, and inspiration.
Although this year’s federal government shutdown grounded all official military demonstrations, the show was a complete success thanks to an outstanding lineup of civilian performers. Every pilot who took to the skies delivered an unforgettable performance—jaw-dropping aerobatics, graceful formation flying, and the unmistakable roar of classic warbirds combined to create a dynamic and uplifting atmosphere throughout the weekend.
Beyond the flying, the event once again proved to be a true community gathering. Families filled the ramp, food vendors and local businesses added to the festive energy, and the static displays (hi, Papa Kilo!) gave aspiring aviators of all ages a chance to get up close with the aircraft that inspire their dreams. Our booth welcomed more than 500 visitors, a testament to the enthusiasm and engagement of the crowd this year.
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who attended, volunteered, and supported this year’s show. Your patronage makes it possible for our little community to host such a robust and meaningful celebration of aviation right here on the Central Coast. Special thanks to the Planes of Fame Air Museum for organizing this event, Bluebird Aero for partnering with AKS to bring pilots the high-quality tools they deserve, and the Santa Maria Airport for hosting us all.
If you couldn’t make it to AirFest this year, don’t worry—we’re already preparing for AirFest 2026! We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for another extraordinary weekend celebrating the freedom, innovation, and joy of flight.
